Calling all University of Oxford students graduating this year! 

Whether you have a clear focus, have just started to explore your options for a career, or don't know what to do next, the Careers Service is here to support you during your final days at Oxford and beyond. Read on for resources and events to help you find a job or internship, explore further study options, polish your applications, and ace interviews.

Career planning and finding direction

Careers advice appointments

Advice appointments are available to book in CareerConnect. Guidance can include feedback on CVs and cover letters, helping you to explore career paths, further study options, and beyond.

Dedicated one-to-one appointments are available for Crankstart Scholars and Disabled or Neurodivergent Students.

  • Career Weaver: Our web-based application to help you identify, take ownership of and clearly articulate: what you love, what you are good at, and why you do it.

  • Developing Career Ideas: Read advice to help you decide what you want to do after graduation, how to make a start or, revisit and reflect on your career ideas.
  • How to Make a Careers Decision: Ideas to help you think through options and make better decisions as you plan your next move.
  • Succeeding if You Miss Your Target Grade: Don't panic if you have graduated with a lower degree grade than you hoped for; only half of graduate employers ask for a 2.1 or above
  • Using Your Subject:There are usually more career options which ‘use your subject’ than you might think.
  • Careers Beyond Profit: Deciding how your own values and beliefs will impact on your career choice is a very personal consideration. The information on this page aims to explore the idea of ‘doing good’ with your career.

  • Job vacancy board: Our job vacancy board on CareerConnect hosts a wide variety of opportunities advertised by employers who are looking to recruit University of Oxford students or graduates for graduate opportunities, full-time jobs, part-time jobs, work experience and internships.

Continued careers support

The support that the Careers Service offers doesn't stop at graduation. All alumni of the University continue to benefit from all or some of our services.

All alumni can:

  • Access our job vacancy board on CareerConnect

  • Attend our Careers Fairs and most other events

  • Sign up to receive our termly Alumni Careers Newsletter. You can do this by editing your communication preferences in on your Alumni Office account.

Recent alumni, which we define as normally those within two years of their course-end date, can also access one-to-one careers advice appointments outside normal term-time (priority in weeks 0-9 of each term is given to current students).

Finalists' access to University online services

Your CareerConnect account will be automatically converted to an 'Alumni' account. Please update your email address to a non-Oxford email address now to keep informed about changes to your account after graduation. Find out more about finalists' access to University online services.
