Marketing Assistant

Fixed-term until 31 December 2024 | Full time | Grade 5: £28,759 - £33,966 per annum

Are you passionate about effective communications and ready to get students excited about their career prospects? We are looking for all rounded communications professional to join our Marketing team. 

The successful candidate will have exceptional written communication skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to tailor messages effectively for diverse audiences. They should demonstrate proficiency in managing and generating various types of content to bolster communication efforts, such as newsletters, websites, social media platforms, and printed materials.

This opportunity will suit a creative person who is seeking to utilise and enhance their marketing skills across exciting and diverse projects. This role will be based in the Careers Service building at 56 Banbury Road and have the option of hybrid working.

About the Careers Service

Careers Service teams

  • The Student and Employer Administration and Information Team are the first point contact for students, organise the major careers fairs, and support employers who advertise jobs and events for Oxford students;
  • A team of careers advisers who offer one-to-one appointments with students and hold workshops and employability programmes;
  • The Internship Office team who secure exclusive internships for Oxford students and support them in making successful applications;
  • The IT Team, who support both students and Service staff with technical issues;
  • A Marketing Officer who focuses on services and event promotion, media creation, website management and student communications.

Who we support

The Careers Service at Oxford University, probably the oldest such service in the UK, serves over 26,500 Oxford-based clients; many hundreds of employers seeking to attract and recruit undergraduates, postgraduates, research staff and alumni; and the colleges, faculties and departments of the University.

Our purpose

The Careers Service’s purpose is to help applicants and employers to make the best, most informed decisions to their mutual benefit. Part of this involves preparing students to apply for and to secure employment – whether it is internship/work experience or full-time permanent posts.

Objectives

In summary, the objectives of the Careers Service are to:

  • deliver service at the place of work (in College, Department, Faculty, home, office; on new and old media);
  • proactively network with all stakeholders;
  • provide highly valued skills and experiences to support employability;
  • enable recruiters to engage easily with the best job seekers (be they undergraduates, postgraduates, researchers or alumni) be nimble and responsive to embrace continual change.

The Careers Service is part of the UAS

University Administration and Services (UAS) is the collective term for the central administrative departments of the University. UAS comprises structures to:

  • support the University’s core academic purposes of teaching, learning and research;
  • ensure the University can meet the requirements of government, funding bodies and other external agencies; and
  • facilitate the attainment of the objectives set out in the University’s Strategic Plan.

The offices of the UAS sections are spread across the city centre, with the main University Offices located in Wellington Square.
