Previous experience

Abby’s research used geophysical methods to study the volcanism associated with the initial rifting of the North Atlantic. Following post-doctoral work at Cambridge, Abby taught Science in secondary schools before moving into careers work at Oxford.

In her current role at the Careers Service, Abby co-leads the team of Careers Advisers and supports students and alumni with one-to-one careers advice, workshops, seminars. With a particular focus on science and education, she regularly contributes to outreach activities for the University, and widening participation initiatives. She chaired a national advisory group on Teaching and Related Professions, and is a contributing author of publications on science, engineering, education and academic careers.

Colleges & departments

Abby works with the Departments of Physics, Earth Sciences, Materials Science and Education. She is the link adviser for St Edmund Hall and St Cross College.
