Previous experience

Before joining the careers service, Julia worked in publishing for 20 years as a commissioning editor at the legal publishers, Lexis Nexis, followed by managing editor at GTI, the company that produces the TARGETjobs series of the graduate careers publications and websites. She has also worked as a publishing manager in the charity sector and as a TEFL teacher in Japan and London. She had a short spell as a paralegal at Mayer Brown straight after graduating from the Legal Practice Course, before going into legal publishing.

With her focus on careers in publishing, Julia manages the Insight into Publishing programme each Hilary term. With her special interest in legal careers, she is also chair of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) Legal Professions Task Group, which meets with the legal profession twice a year.

Colleges & departments

Julia collaborates with Magdalen, St Benet’s Hall and University College, and is the link adviser for the English, Classics and Philosophy faculties.
